Getting Started with the Telephony Server

The main goal of this chapter is to set up your Desktop Telephony or 19" Telephony Server. Your Telephony Server comes pre-installed with the AskoziaPBX software. Therefore, no further installation is required but only the configuration described in this chapter followed by Getting Started with AskoziaPBX. Furthermore, the different models of the 19" Telephony Server are introduced in this chapter.

Starting up your Telephony Server

Connect your telephones to the Telephony Server and connect it via its primary network ports to your network. This is necessary so your Telephony Server can get an IP address assigned which you need to know in order to get access to the web interface. The automatic assigning of the IP address is done by a DHCP server (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). Most routers have this functionality. Each Telephony Server is equipped with an Ethernet port. ETH (LAN) is configured to use DHCP in order to acquire an IP address. Connect your Telephony Server with a router or a switch which is connected to a router, in order to assign an IP address to your PBX.

After connecting the Telephony Server with the network, it can be powered on. In the next step, the IP address of AskoziaPBX needs to be determined in order to log into its web interface. To do so, follow the instructions in the Getting Started with AskoziaPBX chapter.


19" Telephony Server USB recovery

As announced in December 2015, beginning with version V2, every 19" Telephony Server comes with a recovery USB drive for re-installaton of the PBX software if necessary.

19" Telephony Server models

Starting from version V2, each 19" Telephony Server is equipped with a second LAN port that can be used for Next Generation Networks (NGN) or more complex network scenarios like the separation of VoIP and data.
