Getting started with the UC Client

From Askozia Handbook
Jump to: navigation, search

The Askozia UC Client is a communication application for AskoziaPBX. It is available starting from Askozia firmware version 5.2 or higher. The configuration of the UC Client happens almost entirely through the web interface of AskoziaPBX. The basic configuration needs to be done via Askozia’s web interface (Admin Login). Smaller configuration changes can be done by the user via Askozia’s client user interface (User Login). After the configuration is done, the user simply downloads the pre-configured UC Client from the PBX.

The UC Client is available for Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra.

Activation and configuration

We assume that you already have a working installation of AskoziaPBX. If not, please follow the instructions for installing AskoziaPBX and its basic configuration.

To add your UC Client license key(s), go to the Licenses settings in the System menu and click on Askozia add licenses eng.png.

The basic configuration is similar to any other auto-configured SIP phone. Therefore, we are only going to cover the parts of the configuration here, which are unique for the UC Client. For the configuration of standard IP phone features, such as voice mail, caller IDs, etc., please check the SIP phones chapter.

To create a new user account, go to device accounts and add a new VoIP/SIP phone by clicking on Askozia add IP phone account eng.png

In the general settings, add an internal number, caller ID and the preferred language for voice prompts.

General settings for UC Client account

The language setting does not affect the user interface language of the UC Client. The UC Client interface language is set automatically according to the language of your operating system (if available). Otherwise, it is set to English. Currently supported languages are:

  • English
  • German
  • Spanish

In the security settings, we recommend to use the account password automatically generated by AskoziaPBX. If you decide to change it, we highly recommend to use a strong and secure password that is at least 8 characters long and includes letters, digits and special characters.
